“These instructions are not empty words – they are your life!” (Deut 32:47a)
I read the Bible through every year in my personal time with the Lord. I use the One Year Chronological Bible in the New Living Translation. I like this Bible because it doesn’t have any notes. I find that I will often get caught up in reading all of the study notes and not actually read the Scriptures. Reading this Bible helps me stay focused on the Word and search it for its meaning in my life.
I believe the Scriptures are God’s Word for our lives today. That it is a living Word. I read it asking “Lord, what would you have me understand today?”
Despite asking for that discernment before reading and despite having read it through now multiple times, there are still days when it seems like there is just nothing there that I can apply to life. I read and check that off my list and move on. I know I am not alone in this. I have heard many ladies share how they do their 20 minutes and call it done, never truly grasping the life that is the Word.
There is so much more for us if we will look! Join me in the daily conversation as I share what the Lord shows me.
