How did Living Holy get started?

I am just like you. There are things and issues and people I struggle with in my every day. Marriage. Parenting. Work. Church.

I don’t have this living as a follower of Jesus thing down either. So many questions. So many times I feel like I have failed in every department – wife, mom, leader, church girl – and most importantly I have often felt like I have failed at simply being the woman God has called me to be.

Then, one day in my reading, I came across 1 Peter 1:15:

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’”

This verse teaches and reminds me that because God is already holy and because I belong to Him through Jesus who is already holy, then I too am already holy. It is not a future one day I’ll be holy characteristic. It is here, now, and part of me.  I needed to live into that assurance.

Each day we stand at the intersection of faith and life. We stand at the place of choosing to live holy or choosing to live in the world. 1 Peter 1:15 reminds us to choose faith. It reminds us to let God’s Word influence and direct our thoughts, words, and actions. It reminds us that we are not under the power of the world. Rather, we live with free and complete access to the power of the Holy Spirit.

Living Holy is a journey of learning how to navigate that intersection, choose faith, and live into being who God has already declared us to be – holy.

We can do this living holy thing together.

Blessings,

Denise
